Wix website not working properly: 7 checks and when to get help
Mobile layout issues, forms that don't arrive, slow pages or empty CMS pages: seven checks you can do yourself, and when to call in a specialist.
Is your Wix website doing something it shouldn't? Many problems can be traced yourself. Below are seven checks: for each problem, what you can check yourself and when it makes sense to call in a specialist. FLOR-IT is an official Wix Partner, not the Wix helpdesk. For questions about your subscription or billing, contact Wix directly.
1. The site looks different on mobile
Check yourself: open the page in the editor and switch to the mobile or tablet view. See whether elements are hidden, moved or set differently there than on desktop.
Get help if: the layout breaks on several screen sizes at once, or the page was built with custom sections.
2. Contact form submissions don't arrive
Check yourself: send a test message. Look in your spam folder and check in the form settings which email address receives notifications.
Get help if: submissions appear in Wix but no notification is sent, or the form is linked to an automation or external system.
3. Pages load slowly
Check yourself: look for very large images, autoplaying videos or many apps on the page. Test the page with PageSpeed Insights.
Get help if: the page is still slow after resizing images, or Search Console reports poor Core Web Vitals.
4. Dynamic pages or CMS content show nothing
Check yourself: check that the collection items are published and that the dataset on the page is connected to the right collection.
Get help if: filters, permissions or Velo code are involved, or the error only occurs on the live site.
5. The site can't be found in Google
Check yourself: check in the SEO settings that search engines may index the site and the pages concerned. Check in Google Search Console that the sitemap has been submitted.
Get help if: pages still aren't indexed after a few weeks or Search Console reports errors you don't understand.
6. The domain or security doesn't work
Check yourself: check in your Wix dashboard that the domain shows as connected and that the site opens with https.
Get help if: DNS settings at an external domain provider need changing or email runs on the same domain.
7. Links lead to an error page
Check yourself: find out whether a page's URL has changed. Set up a redirect from the old to the new address in the Wix URL Redirect Manager.
Get help if: many old URLs are involved, for example after moving to a new website.
