Outsourcing Wix maintenance: tasks, agreements and costs
Understand what Wix maintains, which website tasks you can delegate and what to agree with an agency. Includes a practical review checklist.
Outsourcing Wix maintenance can make sense when your website matters for enquiries, appointments or sales and your team has little time to manage changes and checks properly. For a simple website that rarely changes, managing it yourself may work well. Start with the tasks that need doing and the consequences if something fails.
What does Wix manage, and what remains your responsibility?
Wix provides hosting and automatic updates to its platform, alongside its own security measures. You do not need a separate agency to maintain Wix's servers. See Wix's explanation of hosting and platform updates and its security overview.
Your business information, forms, staff permissions, integrations and page changes still need attention. An agency can help within an agreed scope. Platform maintenance, website management and new development are different activities: ask for them to be distinguished in your proposal.
A practical monthly checklist
Use this as a starting point. A busy shop or important integration may need more frequent checks; a small information website may need fewer.
- Enquiries: submit a clearly labelled test through each important form. Check the confirmation, delivery to the right person and any CRM entry. Do not use real customer data.
- Bookings and sales: review availability, prices, confirmations and the mobile journey towards booking or checkout. Use an appropriate test or preview method only. An ordinary payment can create a real charge; Wix explains the options and limits for checkout testing.
- Content and links: review opening hours, prices, contact details, downloads and important internal links. Remove or replace expired offers.
- Mobile usability: test navigation, buttons, text size and forms on an actual phone. Record where a visitor gets stuck, rather than checking only the homepage's appearance.
- Access and recovery: check that team members still have appropriate permissions. Record who can publish changes, what can be restored and which data needs to be retained separately.
- Results: review relevant queries and pages in Search Console and count qualified enquiries. Record changes, the measurement period and notable differences so you can investigate developments later.
Check again after changes
After changing a form, payment method, app or integration, repeat the affected customer journey. When changing a URL, review incoming links and any required redirect. For content changes, check the page title, description and other language versions too. Agree in advance who tests, who approves and how to roll back if something fails.
Illustrative example, not a client case: a practice changes its email address. The contact form still displays a confirmation, but notifications go to the old inbox. A test that follows the enquiry through to actual receipt reveals the problem. Checking that the button works would miss it.
What belongs in a maintenance agreement?
- Which pages, forms, apps and integrations are covered?
- Which checks happen when, and will you receive a record of findings?
- How many changes or hours are included, and how is additional work priced?
- Which channel should you use to report an issue, during which working hours, and with what agreed response time?
- What counts as a critical incident? Distinguish an initial response from a complete resolution.
- Who manages accounts and subscriptions, and how will a future handover work?
Only assume that new features, substantial design changes, copywriting or complex integrations are included when the agreement explicitly says so. A general promise to “take care of everything” does not answer these questions.
Costs and evidence of value
The FLOR-IT price calculator lists annual support at an indicative €360 excluding VAT. The proposal sets out the agreed work. Your Wix subscription is separate. This checklist does not mean that every task described is included in that price.
Assess maintenance through completed checks, resolved issues and useful reporting. Faster pages or better content may help, but a fixed conversion increase cannot be promised in advance. Inclusion in AI answers is not guaranteed either: Google's guidance focuses on useful content and established SEO practices.
